The next commission meeting is scheduled and open to the public. Bill Mook from Maine Oyster Farm will speak about his work into the effects of ocean acidification on his oyster farming business in Maine, Mook Sea Farm.

The Commission

The New Hampshire Coastal Marine Natural Resources and Environment Commission is tasked with: Investigating, monitoring, and proposing prevention and mitigation strategies for emerging environmental threats in coastal and Great Bay waters, including but not limited to warming of waters, ocean acidification, sedimentation, and nutrient loading Identifying gaps and recommending improvements in water quality monitoring, including monitoring pH and evaluating its impact on the impaired waters designation of water bodies Recommending strategies for enhancing capacities for improving water quality Examining the Blue Carbon credit program for sea grass promotion and oyster bed restoration This commission will meet monthly until the Final Report is submitted on or before November 1, 2018. The commission also elected Steve Couture as Secretary and Erik Chapman and Commission Chair. Details of the new chapter can be found on the New Hampshire General Court website .

October Meeting

As with all commission meetings, this meeting is open to the public. Monday, October 29, 2018 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. NH DES office at Pease Tradeport 222 International Drive #175 Portsmouth, NH 03801 The DES Coastal Program has asked us to please refrain from parking in front of the building; rather, please park to the side or behind the DES offices. Thanks. The main agenda item will be to review and work-through our annual report focusing on nutrient issues in NH. We look forward to seeing you at this meeting. Thank you!
